Passion

For years I tried to find out what I was passionate about, it was right in front of my eyes but I didn't do much to help with that passion. In the past few years I realized the two biggest passions in my life were helping animals and also helping other individuals. Helping others and seeing how something so simple could help make their day a little brighter makes my heart so happy. There are so many ways to help someone whether its something simple such as helping with their groceries or holding the door open for another person. Every day I make it a goal to help brighten someone's day even just a little, for example the other day outside of Bunker Hill there was a homeless man sitting outside waiting for people to give him change. I stopped to give him some spare change I had,I knew it would mean a lot more to him than myself but as I kept walking I knew there was more I could do so I went inside and got him a sandwich, a burger and some water. As I brought it back to him he was so grateful that someone cared enough to help him, it made me so happy to make his day a little easier and it also made me grateful that I was able to help even if it was in a small way. There are many individuals who don't bother to help someone in need but it is just so amazing how a small act of kindness can go far. Another passion in mine is helping animals in need, whenever I can I try to donate items to my local animal shelter and also volunteer there which I plan to do more when I have more free time. It is so sad seeing animals look so defeated and helpless, it makes me wish I could help them all. Ever since I was younger I wanted to be a vet but I put that aside, in the past two years I realize that I was put on this earth to help animals in need and it is something I want to dedicate my life to doing. I know it will be a very difficult career but helping animals and their humans will be worth it, I believe nothing will ever make me feel complete like helping animals will. For the rest of my life I want to help animals specifically dogs, cats and other small animals perhaps eventually opening up my own animal clinic or animal shelter.

My whole life I have always loved animals, specifically dogs. Recently I have come to the realization that becoming a vet would be the perfect career for me, I could help animals while also helping their owners. Being a vet consists of very hard work such as medicating and treating health problems, performing surgery if necessary and also euthanizing animals if needed. Volunteering at animal shelters has only furthered my passion to help them, it is so rewarding. I believe becoming a vet would be the most fulfilling career for myself, it is always something I saw myself doing even from a young age. To help connect my passion with a career, I could perhaps volunteer more or even try to talk to veterinarians who are able to give me more information on what I could expect in the future on topics such as routine checkups, surgery, or treating common health problems on certain breeds of dogs.

Eventually, the career I want to enter is being a vet at an animal clinic but there are also other services I could help serve by volunteering. I have always been passionate about helping others whenever I could, it is so fulfilling seeing how something you do helps impact someone's life for the better. One service I hope to volunteer for soon is a soup kitchen, there are so many individuals who do not know where their next meal will come from but thankfully soup kitchens are around to help feed others. Another company I hope to help around the holidays would be the Samaritan's Purse. Every Christmas I fill up a box filled with items a child could want or need such as socks or toys they might not be able to afford. These boxes are sent to children in third world countries who are not able to afford essentials but thankfully are helped with these boxes that people send them. This holiday I hope to use the money I often get as a Christmas present to help others in need. Through the Samaritan's Purse you are able to send money to help, whether its giving some money towards a child's surgery, building a well for villages who are in need of clean drinking water, or helping children who are malnourished. In the past few years I have been trying to help others when I can and it is such a fulfilling feeling to know that someone's life might be a little easier because of your actions.

  1. Caroline,

Amazing post. It looks clean and professional and it is well-written. Your passion exudes through the energy of your sentences. There is excitement here and a genuine vibe in your tone.

I like your story about the homeless person outside of school. It's touching. Most people would walk on by, thinking of their own problems. But you have a heart of gold that is best served when serving others. This is big. Caregiving for people and animals requires a special type of person that has the strength, patience, and a huge well of compassion. From your stories, I think you have it.

I also like that you've volunteered at animal shelters. I'd strongly encourage you to keep volunteering in these places that you're passionate about - so that you build a strong professional network - one that you can tap into when you are trained and ready for work in the field. Having a potential employer see how hard you work as a volunteer is the best resume you can provide. Go for it. Keep yourself in the loop and around these great service providers. Check out other local shelters, nonprofits, and other places that you may want to work at in the near future.

Great post. Clean. Clearly written. True passion. Glad you found it!
